Why KwaFlux is 100% local — and what that decision is worth

AI Video Enhancer, repair, cutout, AI Video Beauty, and AI Audio Denoise all run on your GPU. No upload queue, no per-minute meter. Three reasons, three returns, and the honest hardware cost.

The short answer

Every shipped KwaFlux AI pass — AI Video Enhancer, repair, cutout, AI Video Beauty, AI Audio Denoise, Video Converter, file repair — runs on your machine. Nothing uploads to finish a preview or an export. That is a product contract, not a missing server. The spreadsheet version of the same decision is local vs cloud.

Current local Quality Repair workspace — layout screenshot, not a cloud comparison
Current desktop screenshot. Processing stays on the GPU you already paid for.

Three reasons we signed that contract

  • Your footage is not ours to hold. Family faces, NDA plates, and internal recordings should not need a privacy-policy rewrite to stay put. Architecture does not get a new version the way a policy page does
  • Grading is a loop. Upload–queue–download makes the first result "good enough." A 1s/3s/5s preview after download is free and needs no account, so you can actually iterate
  • You already bought a discrete GPU. A per-minute cloud bill rents it back to you every month. Desktop plans are on pricing: $29.99 / $49.99 / $79.99 / $199.99 perpetual. Volume can rise without a meter

What that buys you — and what it costs

  • A short compliance sentence: the footage was not uploaded
  • Predictable time: no vendor queue. Processing itself is local. Sign-in still uses the network because export and convert need an active paid plan
  • A visible software bill. We do not claim an unlimited file-size SKU — your disk and GPU are the cap

The cost is honest: you need a DirectX 12 discrete GPU (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel Arc; RTX recommended). Integrated graphics will not run this class of model. A remote datacenter card can win a single-frame sprint. Two shorts a year on a thin laptop still belong in a cloud queue — that ledger is already written. For people who keep making pictures and care where the master sat overnight, local is the answer we can keep.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with the network unplugged?

The AI pass never uploads the clip. License checks still need the network for export and convert. 1s/3s/5s previews do not.

Does "100% local" include AI Video Beauty and AI Audio Denoise?

Yes. Every shipped module in the desktop suite — picture, cutout, AI Video Beauty, AI Audio Denoise, Video Converter, file repair — runs on the machine. Disabled or unreleased modules are not claimed here.

Is local quality worse than cloud quality?

Quality follows the model, not the building. These models are built to run on a consumer GPU. Preview decides.
