HitPaw VikPea Review 2026: Prices, Free Preview, Cloud Credits, and Limits
HitPaw VikPea in 2026 from HitPaw's own pages: the free version, Windows and Mac prices, license limits, cloud credits, and the speed HitPaw quotes.
Key takeaways
- HitPaw VikPea is HitPaw's AI video enhancer for Windows and Mac, sold as a monthly, yearly, or perpetual license.
- The free version previews results but doesn't export. You need to buy a license to save the enhanced video.
- Each license covers one computer, and Windows and Mac licenses are separate purchases.
- Local export uses your own GPU. Cloud acceleration is optional, uses credits, and HitPaw says it's only for subscribed users.
- HitPaw's own example: a 30-second 4K clip takes about 16 minutes on a GTX 1650, or 3.5 minutes with cloud acceleration.
HitPaw VikPea is a desktop AI video enhancer with upscaling, denoising, face, color, and frame-rate models. The free version shows previews; to export, you buy a license for one computer on one platform. Its prices change often, so read the purchase page on the day you buy.
In this guide, you'll learn what VikPea includes, how the free version and cloud credits work, what it costs on Windows and Mac, its license limits, and how to test it fairly against other tools.
How we wrote this
Every fact here comes from HitPaw's own purchase pages, technical FAQ, and community FAQ, read on 29 October 2026. KwaFlux makes a competing app, so we don't rate VikPea's output quality; we report HitPaw's terms and figures and show you how to test it yourself.

What is HitPaw VikPea?
HitPaw VikPea is an AI video enhancement app from HitPaw that upscales, restores, and recolors video on a Windows PC or Mac. HitPaw's own menu lists it as "HitPaw VikPea (Video Enhancer)," the product's earlier name. It runs models on your computer's hardware, with an optional cloud mode for some of them.
What's included
HitPaw's free-versus-paid table lists these tools:
| Group | Tools on HitPaw's list |
|---|---|
| Restoration models | General Restoration, Video Quality Repair, UHD Restoration, Portrait Restoration |
| Generative models | AI Generative, Portrait Generation |
| Sharpening and cleanup | HD Sharpen, Fast Sharpen, Professional Sharpen, Professional Decompression, Professional Denoise |
| Other enhancement | Animation, AI Pilot |
| AI color | AI Colorist, SDR to HDR, Colorize, Color Enhancement, Low-Light Enhancement |
| AI toolbox (selection) | Video Background Remover, Video Frame Interpolation, Video Stabilization |
| Other | Video Repair, AI Video Generator |
Output goes from SD to HD, HD to 4K, or 4K to 8K, and the default setting enlarges by 200%. HitPaw's photo enhancer is a separate product.
The free version
The free version lets you load a clip, try the models, and watch a before-and-after preview. It doesn't export: HitPaw's purchase page lists Preview: Yes and Export: No for the free license, and its community FAQ says the trial "only supports preview and excludes the export function."
That makes the preview the real evaluation step. Use clips that show your hardest problems, because you won't be able to export a test file without paying.
Prices on Windows and Mac
HitPaw shows a charged price next to a higher crossed-out price. These are the figures on 29 October 2026:
| Plan | Windows (charged) | Windows (crossed out) | Mac (charged) | Mac (crossed out) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 month, auto-renews | $42.99 | $85.99 | $69.99 | $99.99 |
| 1 year, auto-renews | $99.99 | $199.99 | $109.99 | $209.99 |
| Perpetual | $349.99 | $699.99 | $349.99 | $729.99 |
Team plans for 5 or 10 computers are sold separately.
Sidenote: These numbers move. Four days earlier, on 25 October, the Windows page showed different figures. We checked both pages again on 1 November, and our VikPea comparison page now uses the same figures. Take a screenshot of the page when you buy.

Licenses, devices, and refunds
- One computer per license. HitPaw's FAQ says a "1 PC/Mac" license installs on one computer.
- No cross-platform use. HitPaw says its license "cannot be cross-platform": a Windows license doesn't activate on a Mac, and the reverse. Working on both means buying twice.
- Updates. Subscriptions get major-version upgrades during the term. The perpetual license gets free updates for the current major version.
- Refunds. HitPaw offers a 30-day money-back policy, applied when support can't solve your problem. Read its refund policy for the details.
Cloud acceleration and credits
VikPea has two export paths. Export renders on your own hardware. Cloud acceleration (Cloud Export) sends the job to HitPaw's servers:
- It's only offered for models that support it; if the option doesn't appear, that model doesn't.
- Before export, a popup shows how many credits the job will use.
- HitPaw's community FAQ says cloud acceleration is only available for subscribed users.
- HitPaw says it's sold separately because it carries extra server costs.
So credits are optional: local export doesn't use them. The question to ask yourself is whether your computer is fast enough that you won't want to pay for the cloud. Cloud processing also means uploading the clip; our guide to local vs cloud AI video processing covers that trade-off.
Speed and system requirements
HitPaw publishes one worked example:
| Setup | 30-second 4K clip |
|---|---|
| Local, NVIDIA GTX 1650 | About 16 minutes |
| Cloud acceleration | About 3.5 minutes (HitPaw: 80% faster) |
HitPaw says cloud acceleration speeds processing by 30% to 98%, depending on the job. On system requirements, its FAQ lists Windows 10/11 (64-bit) or macOS 13 and later, with at least 8 GB of RAM; it doesn't list a VRAM figure. For what different GPUs mean for render time, see which GPU AI video enhancement needs.
Who VikPea suits, and who might look elsewhere
VikPea fits if you:
- work on a single computer, on one platform;
- want generative and portrait models in a desktop app;
- are happy to pay for cloud acceleration on long jobs.
You might look elsewhere if you:
- switch between a Windows PC and a Mac, because each needs its own license;
- want to export test files before you buy;
- want to avoid per-job cloud costs on a slower computer.
KwaFlux is one option for this group. Here are the terms side by side:
| Term | HitPaw VikPea (Windows, charged price on 29 October 2026) | KwaFlux (list price on 1 November 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Pay once | $349.99, for one platform | $199.99, Windows and Mac |
| Monthly | $42.99 | $35.99 |
| Computers per license | 1 | 2 at once, Windows and Mac in any mix |
| Faster processing | Cloud acceleration with credits, for subscribers | No credits: every job runs on your own GPU |
| Photos | HitPaw's photo enhancer is a separate product | Included: 15 photo modules |
| Audio and subtitles | Not in HitPaw's free-versus-paid feature table | Included: 4 audio tools, plus subtitle editing and burn-in |
| Before you buy | Preview only | Preview with no account |
If you work on both a Windows PC and a Mac, two VikPea perpetual licenses come to $699.98, while one KwaFlux license covers both at $199.99 list. Current KwaFlux offers are on the pricing page. Our VikPea comparison page adds the refund and update terms. For other reviews in the same format, see Topaz Video and AVCLabs.
How to test it fairly
- Pick three clips: one typical, one hard (low light or heavy compression), and one with faces.
- Preview each in VikPea with the model HitPaw recommends for it.
- Preview the same clips in one or two other tools at the same output size.
- Compare at 100% zoom on the same screen, paying attention to faces, text, and fine texture.
- Read the terms before paying: computers per license, platforms, renewal, and whether you'll need the cloud.
Final thoughts
VikPea is a full-featured enhancer with a clear free preview and a one-computer, one-platform license. The things to settle before buying are practical: whether one machine is enough, whether your hardware is fast enough to skip the cloud, and which of HitPaw's frequently changing prices applies on the day you pay.
Preview KwaFlux on the same clips
KwaFlux runs AI video upscaling, repair, and color tools on your own computer. AI processing runs locally on your GPU, and media files are not uploaded for processing. It runs on Windows 10 (64-bit, version 1809 or later), Windows 11, and macOS 12 or newer on Apple Silicon. Previews need no account: render a 1-, 3-, or 5-second preview on any clip. Signing in with an active paid plan is required only to export, convert, repair a file, or download a file from a link.
HitPaw and VikPea are trademarks of their owner. KwaFlux is an independent product and isn't affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by HitPaw. Prices and terms are quoted from HitPaw's pages as of the access date and change often.
Try It on Your Own Footage
Download KwaFlux and preview effects on your own footage for free before you pay — no account needed, and your media is processed on your GPU, not uploaded for processing. Video previews run 1, 3, or 5 seconds; stabilization previews run 5, 15, or 30 seconds.
Frequently asked questions
Is HitPaw VikPea free?
No. The free version previews results but can't export. HitPaw's purchase page lists export as paid-only, so you need a license to save an enhanced video.
Do I need credits to export in VikPea?
No, not for local export, which uses your own computer. Credits are only for cloud acceleration, an optional faster mode that HitPaw offers to subscribed users on supported models.
Can one VikPea purchase work on Windows and Mac?
No. HitPaw says its licenses can't be used across platforms. A Windows license doesn't activate on a Mac, so working on both needs two purchases.
How long does VikPea take to enhance a video?
It depends on your hardware, the model, and the clip. HitPaw's example is about 16 minutes for a 30-second 4K clip on a GTX 1650, or 3.5 minutes with cloud acceleration. See how GPUs affect AI render time.
Does VikPea work on a Mac?
Yes. HitPaw sells a Mac version that needs macOS 13 or later, and its Mac menu says it enhances videos up to 8K. It's a separate purchase from the Windows version.
