Export with an alpha channel as ProRes 4444 MOV for Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or After Effects, or as WebM for the web.

Why video cutout is harder than a photo
Cutting out one frame is easy; a clip needs hundreds of masks that agree with each other, or the edges crawl. Smart Cutout carries the mask from frame to frame, which is what makes the result usable for compositing in your editor.
Fine hair against a busy background and fast motion blur are still the hard cases, so check those shots in a free 1, 3 or 5-second preview first.

Pick the background for the job
Choose transparent when the clip goes on to compositing, a solid color or image when it's ready to publish as is, and blur to keep the room without letting it pull focus. Cuts and timing stay in your editor; KwaFlux has no timeline.

How to use Smart Cutout in KwaFlux
Import the clip
In the sidebar, open the AI Toolbox, pick Portrait Background Removal and import the clip. Ordinary footage works; you don't need a green screen or special lighting.
Choose the background
On the right, pick transparent, a solid color, an image or a blur. Preview 1, 3 or 5 seconds and check the hair and hands.
Export
Export a transparent ProRes 4444 MOV or WebM for your editor, or a finished clip with the new background.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need a green screen for AI Smart Cutout?
- No. The models separate people from ordinary backgrounds. Fine hair against a very busy background is the hardest case, so preview that shot first.
- Can I cut out objects other than people?
- Yes, with Object Background Replace: click the object and it's tracked through the clip, so you can keep it and change what's behind it. Smart Cutout itself is made for people.
- How is video cutout different from photo cutout?
- Each frame's mask has to agree with its neighbors, or the edges flicker. Smart Cutout is built for video and carries the mask across frames instead of treating each frame as a separate photo.
- Can I export with a transparent background?
- Yes. Choose ProRes 4444 in a MOV for editors such as Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or After Effects, or WebM for lighter web use.
- Can I try it before buying?
- Yes, with no account or card. Free previews last 1, 3 or 5 seconds in video modules, 5, 15 or 30 seconds in Video Stabilization, the whole picture for images and the opening 5 to 30 seconds for audio; file tools such as the Converter have no effect preview.
