KwaFlux feature
AI Smart Cutout without a green screen
KwaFlux isolates people and objects frame by frame with temporally consistent AI cutout — clean edges, stable across motion, no studio setup. Swap the background, replace the sky, or export a clean cutout for compositing.
- Portrait cutout with temporal consistency, built to keep edges stable between frames
- Segment and replace specific objects, not just people
- Sky replacement with a built-in preset library
No studio required
Cut out subjects where a green screen was never an option
Local AI cutout keeps NDA footage on disk. Preview edges on hair and hands, then export alpha or composite in-app.

Segmentation and replacement modules
Portrait cutout
- Robust video cutout tracks people across frames with temporal consistency, designed to keep edges stable rather than flickering.
Object segmentation & replacement
- Point at any object and the segmentation engine isolates and tracks it through the clip for replacement or extraction.
Sky replacement
- Detects the sky region and swaps it from a preset library — turn a gray overcast shot into golden hour.
Transparent export
- Export subjects with alpha for downstream compositing in your editor.
Why temporal consistency is the hard part
Cutting out one frame is easy; cutting out 900 frames that agree with each other is the actual problem. Naive per-frame segmentation produces edges that crawl and flicker — hair and fingers appear and disappear between frames. KwaFlux's cutout pipeline propagates masks through time, which is what makes the output usable for real compositing rather than just previews.
Fine hair against busy backgrounds and fast motion blur remain the honest hard cases for any cutout system. The 1s/3s/5s preview exists precisely so you can check edge quality on your actual footage before committing to a full render.
Local cutout for client work
Smart cutout is common on exactly the footage you cannot upload: unreleased ads, client interviews, product shots under NDA. Local processing removes that conflict — the footage is not uploaded and stays on your workstation.
How to use Smart Cutout in KwaFlux
01
Import the clip
No green screen or special lighting needed — the models work on ordinary footage.
02
Choose subject or object mode
Use portrait cutout for people, or object segmentation to select any other subject. Preview a short segment to verify edge quality.
03
Replace or export with alpha
Drop in a new background, replace the sky from presets, or export a transparent cutout for your editor.

System requirements
- Operating system
- Windows 10 (64-bit, 1809+) or Windows 11
- macOS build coming — planned minimum macOS 13 or newer (Apple Silicon and Intel).
- GPU
- DirectX 12 compatible discrete GPU (NVIDIA / AMD / Intel Arc)
- NVIDIA RTX recommended — TensorRT acceleration is available on RTX. macOS GPU requirements will ship with the Mac build.
- Memory
- 16 GB RAM or above
- Keeps previews and export staging responsive under load.
- Storage
- Fast SSD workspace
- Better for caching, temp artifacts, and larger preview sessions.
Windows 10 (64-bit, 1809+) or Windows 11 today; macOS coming — planned minimum macOS 13+.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a green screen for AI smart cutout?
- No. The cutout models isolate subjects from ordinary backgrounds. A green screen still helps in extreme cases like fine hair against a very busy background, but for typical footage it is unnecessary.
Can I remove objects other than people?
- Yes. The object segmentation module lets you select an arbitrary object and tracks it across frames for replacement or extraction — it is not limited to portraits.
How is video cutout different from photo cutout?
- Video adds the consistency problem: every frame's mask must agree with its neighbors or edges flicker. KwaFlux uses temporally consistent cutout designed for video, rather than running a photo model frame by frame.
Can I export with a transparent background?
- Yes. Cutouts can be exported with alpha for compositing in editors like Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or After Effects.
Is my footage uploaded to the cloud?
- No. The AI processing runs on your own GPU and your media files are not uploaded — there is no queue and no per-minute cloud fee. The network is used only for sign-in and license checks (needed to export on a paid plan) and for updates.
Can I try it before buying?
- Yes. Download KwaFlux and render 1-, 3-, and 5-second effect previews across all AI modules without creating an account. You only sign in and pick a paid plan when you want to export or convert, and there is a $199.99 Perpetual License if you prefer to skip subscriptions.
