Repair → upscale workflow
Repair then upscale video locally
Upscaling crushed blocks just makes bigger blocks. KwaFlux chains AI Video Quality Repair with local AI upscaling so you clean, preview free, then grow to 1080p/4K on your GPU — one toolkit, no cloud queue.
Repair → upscale (local)
Clean crushed encodes before you grow the canvas — preview free on your GPU.
Every step runs on your GPU — no media upload

Clean before you grow
Repair first, then size
Free 1s/3s/5s previews on your GPU — atmosphere only, not a before/after.

Typical cloud path
Upload → queue → re-upload for the next pass → bandwidth and NDA risk between tools.
KwaFlux local path
Preview both passes on-machine, then export once. Footage stays put.
Why repair before you upscale
- Social downloads, chat re-encodes, and multi-generation exports are often playable but full of compression damage — growing them first locks artifacts into the master.
- “Unblur / 4K AI” searches usually need two jobs: cleanup (denoise, deblock, softness recovery) and sizing (AI Ultra HD / AI Video Enhancer).
- Separate cloud tools force re-uploads between passes; a local pipeline lets you iterate with free 1s/3s/5s previews before a full export.
- The same lifetime seat also covers image and audio passes when the deliverable is more than a single video file.
Recommended KwaFlux settings
Modern crush → AI Video Quality Repair first
Target blocks, grain, and muddy softness before AI Video Enhancer so reconstruction does not amplify mosquito noise.

Tape archives → restore-old-video, then upscale
Interlace, analog grain, and fade need archive-oriented passes; then chain AI Video Enhancer for delivery size.

Frequently asked questions
Why not upscale first?
- Upscalers reconstruct detail from what is already in the frame. If the frame is mostly compression blocks, growing it first makes those blocks larger and harder to remove. Cleanup → size is the usual order for crushed modern encodes.
Is this the same as “unblur video AI”?
- Related intent, different honesty level. Softness recovery helps when detail was lost to encode or optics; it cannot invent a sharp capture that never existed. Use free previews on the worst section before you commit a full export.
Do I need two products for repair and upscale?
- No. AI Video Quality Repair, Restore Old Video, and the AI Video Enhancer / AI Ultra HD modules ship in the same local KwaFlux toolkit under one license.
Can I run a whole folder through the same recipe?
- Yes. Batch processing applies the same settings across a folder of clips unattended — useful for ops folders, archives, and multi-clip deliverables.
Is my footage uploaded anywhere?
- No. The AI processing runs on your own GPU and your clips are not uploaded — there are no per-minute cloud fees or upload queues. The network is used only for sign-in and license checks (needed to export on a paid plan) and for updates.
