Repair a damaged video file — diagnose locally first

Video File Repair is the current desktop workbench for clips that will not play or that abort mid-file. Import the damaged file, pick Auto / Quick / Deep / Smart, optionally attach a healthy reference from the same camera, then start diagnosis on your machine.

What file repair can attempt

Container and index repair

Unplayable MP4s and files that die mid-timeline often have broken indexes — Auto/Quick try that first.

Deep / Smart modes

Harder damage may need Deep or Smart. These take longer; they still cannot invent frames that were never written.

Reference file

A healthy clip from the same camera/settings can help the diagnoser guess structure. Optional, not required.

Repair is not enhancement

This workbench tries to make a file playable again. It is not AI Video Quality Repair, denoise, or upscale. If the file already plays, use AI Video Quality Repair or Restore Old Video instead.

Physically overwritten sectors and empty files cannot be reconstructed. Diagnosis will say so more honestly than a marketing claim.

Keep a copy of the damaged original

Always work on a copy. If Deep mode still fails, you still have the source for another tool or a lab.

How to repair a video file in KwaFlux

  1. 01

    Copy the damaged file, then import

    Never overwrite the only copy. Use Import Video on the Video File Repair workbench.

  2. 02

    Pick a mode and optional reference

    Start with Auto. Attach a healthy same-camera file if you have one. Click Start Diagnosis.

  3. 03

    Play the output locally

    If it plays, you can then enhance. If it does not, try Deep/Smart or keep the original for another pass.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can this recover a formatted drive?

No. It repairs a damaged video file you can still copy. Disk-level recovery is a different job.

Is this the same as AI Video Quality Repair?

No. File repair tries to make a broken file playable. AI Video Quality Repair enhances pictures that already play.

Is my footage uploaded to the cloud?

No. The AI processing runs on your own GPU and your media files are not uploaded — there is no queue and no per-minute cloud fee. The network is used only for sign-in and license checks (needed to export on a paid plan) and for updates.
