File Repair fix videos, photos and audio that won't open
File Repair gets broken files to open and play again. It has three repairers: video for clips that won't play or stop partway, image for photos that won't open, and audio for files that won't play. It fixes the file, not the picture or the sound.

§01What it does
What the Repairer can try
Quick Repair
Rebuilds the container when the index or header is broken but the picture and sound are still in the file. The frame data is left untouched.
Deep Repair and Smart Repair
Deep Repair scans frame by frame and needs a reference file; Smart Repair matches the settings on its own when you have none. Both take longer than Quick Repair.
Auto and the reference file
Auto picks a mode from the diagnosis. A healthy clip from the same camera model gives the repair the codec settings it needs.
Image File Repair
For a JPEG or PNG that won't open. It repairs the file; it doesn't enhance the picture.
Audio File Repair
For an MP3 or WAV that won't play or keeps cutting out. It repairs the file; it doesn't remove noise.

Fix the file first, then the picture
File Repair gets a file to open and play again. If it already plays and only looks bad, use AI Video Quality Repair or Restore Old Video.
Data that was never written, or was overwritten, can't be brought back; the diagnosis flags this as a risk before you repair.

Work on a copy
Repair a copy and keep the damaged original. If one mode fails, you can still try another mode or another tool.

Image File Repair and Audio File Repair sit next to Video File Repair in the Repairer, and the flow is the same: diagnose first, then repair.

Read the diagnosis before you pick a mode
Diagnosis checks the file's structure, rates the damage and suggests a mode; Auto follows that suggestion.
Quick Repair suits a broken index, while Deep Repair suits a missing one (common when recording stops on a dead battery) and needs a reference clip from the same camera.
If Quick Repair doesn't work, KwaFlux retries with Smart Repair, which needs no reference.

How to repair a video, image or audio file
Copy the file, then import it
In the sidebar, open Repairer and pick Video File Repair, Image File Repair or Audio File Repair. Import a copy of the damaged file.
Diagnose and pick a mode
Click Start Diagnosis, then keep Auto or pick a mode. Add a reference file from the same camera if you have one.
Repair and check the result
Click Start Repair and play the output. If it plays, you can improve it in another module; if not, try another mode or add a reference file.

- Can this recover files from a formatted drive?
- No. It repairs a damaged file you can still copy; getting files back from a drive is a different job.
- Is this the same as AI Video Quality Repair?
- No. File Repair makes a broken file open or play. AI Video Quality Repair improves the picture of a video that already plays.
- Can I check whether my video can be repaired before I pay?
- Yes. Diagnosis is free and needs no account: it rates the damage and suggests a mode. That's an estimate, not a promise that the file will open.
