Archive restoration workflow

Fix old home video without uploading family archives

Digitized VHS, MiniDV, and early phone clips usually need a pipeline, not a single filter: deinterlace, grain cleanup, optional colorize, then detail recovery. KwaFlux runs that stack locally so private footage stays at home.

Archive-ready

Keep family transfers on the same GPU that restores them

Colorize, denoise, and deinterlace locally. Preview free 1s/3s/5s before a full export — this still is the current desktop, not a claimed restore.

Typical cloud restore path

Upload intimate family transfers → wait in a queue → download a version you may not keep as a durable master.

Why old home video needs a restore pipeline

  • Tape and camcorder transfers are often interlaced, noisy, and soft at once.
  • Cloud restore tools require uploading intimate family media — a non-starter for many households.
  • Player “enhance” modes do not produce a corrected master you can keep.

Three-step workflow

  1. 01

    Export from the generator

Download the clip at the highest resolution and bitrate your plan allows — the cleaner the source, the more AI Video Enhancer can recover.

  2. 02

    Preview settings in KwaFlux

Import the clip, apply the recommended settings below, and render a free 1s/3s/5s preview to check the result on your actual footage.

  3. 03

    Upscale and export locally

Render to 1080p or 4K on your own GPU — no upload queue, no per-clip cloud fees, and batch mode handles a whole folder of generations.

Frequently asked questions

Can KwaFlux open a tape that will not play?

If the file will not open, use file-repair modules first. Restoration assumes a playable but degraded transfer.

Is family video uploaded?

No. Processing is local on your GPU. Previews and exports stay on your machine.

Can I run a whole folder through the same recipe?

Yes. Batch processing applies the same settings across a folder of clips unattended — useful for ops folders, archives, and multi-clip deliverables.
