How to remove background noise from video — locally

Viewers forgive soft pixels before they forgive hissy dialogue. Denoise, cut room echo, and separate vocals in the same local pipeline as the picture — no extract-then-reimport.

The short answer

A crisp 4K upscale with hissy, echoey dialogue still reads as amateur. KwaFlux treats audio as a first-class pass: AI Audio Denoise works on the video file itself — denoise, dereverb, or split vocals from a music bed. Picture grain is a different job (how to denoise video). Preview 1s/3s/5s after a download — no account needed; export needs a paid plan on pricing.

The four audio modules

  • Audio denoising — steady hum, hiss, air conditioning, traffic bed; keep speech
  • Voice enhancement (dereverberation) — untreated rooms, halls, empty apartments
  • Vocal separation — isolate dialogue from music, or extract an instrumental
  • AI voice change — shift timbre toward a chosen character; preview first

What cleanup can and cannot fix

  • Steady broadband noise and room reverb respond well
  • Clipped or distorted peaks can be softened, not fully un-clipped
  • Dense music mixes separate less cleanly than voice over a bed
  • Picture grain is not this tool — use AI Video Quality Repair or the denoise article

How to clean the soundtrack

  1. Import the video — or a standalone audio file; no extract first
  2. Pick denoise, voice enhancement, or separation; preview to hear it
  3. Export locally so the cleaned track stays attached

Frequently asked questions

Can it remove background noise from a video directly?

Yes. Point denoising at the video file — no extract first. The cleaned soundtrack reattaches on export.

What is dereverberation?

It reduces room echo baked into untreated spaces so the voice sounds closer and clearer.

Will it fix clipped audio?

Only partially. Clipping destroys information at capture. Preview on your file to hear the limit.
